What anxiety feels like
Anxiety can show up as a racing heart, tight chest, spinning thoughts, or a constant sense that something bad is about to happen. It is a normal human response — but when it stays too long, it can feel exhausting.
Try this now
Slow the exhale. A long out-breath tells your nervous system that you are safe.
- Breathe in gently through your nose for 4 seconds.
- Hold softly for 2 seconds.
- Breathe out slowly through your mouth for 6–8 seconds.
- Repeat 5 times. Notice your shoulders drop.
Gentle daily habits
Small, kind routines calm an anxious system over time.
- Limit caffeine, especially in the afternoon.
- Move your body — a short walk counts.
- Write down worries so they aren't looping in your head.
- Talk to someone you trust, even briefly.
When to reach out
If anxiety is stopping you from sleeping, working, or being with people you love, please speak with a doctor or therapist. Support exists and it works.
